Wool

Before Wearing / Washing

  • Turn inside out before washing.
  • Empty pockets, unbuckle belts, remove jewellery.
  • Fasten zips/buttons before storing.

Brushing & Airing

  • Brush lengthwise with a soft garment brush after wearing.
  • Lay flat for an hour or hang outside to freshen.
  • Rest 24 hrs between wears to recover shape.

Washing & Drying

  • Follow care label; avoid heat and direct sunlight.
  • Dry flat if tumble dry not advised.
  • Don’t hang heavy wet items (prevents distortion).

Ironing & Pressing

  • Use steam on “wool” setting.
  • Never iron wool completely dry.

Long-Term Storage

  • Clean before storing (stains attract moths).
  • Store in airtight bags/containers.
  • Use moth repellents safely (not touching fabric).

Japanese Denim

Before Washing

  • Wear raw denim for a while before first wash for unique fades.
  • Turn inside out to protect dye and fabric.
  • Button up to prevent machine damage.

Washing

  • Use cold water (30°C/86°F).
  • Mild, pH-neutral detergent (or denim-specific).
  • Gentle/delicate cycle, or hand wash (30 min soak + rinse).

Drying & Finishing

  • Air dry on a rack or line.
  • Avoid tumble drying (causes shrinkage/damage).
  • Iron on medium if needed (natural wrinkles are fine).

Other Tips

  • Wash less often to preserve color and shape.
  • Dry cleaning can freshen without heavy fading.
  • Reshape while damp before drying.

 

Woven

Before Washing

Washing

  • Use cool or lukewarm water to prevent shrinkage.
  • Choose a gentle detergent, ideally pH-neutral.
  • Select a delicate cycle or hand wash when possible.

Drying

  • Air dry flat or on a hanger, away from direct heat or sunlight.
  • Avoid tumble drying unless care label permits.
  • Reshape gently while damp.

Finishing

  • Steam or iron on the fibre’s recommended setting.
  • For silk and wool, always use steam; avoid ironing when fully dry.

Storage

  • Clean before long-term storage.
  • Store in breathable or airtight bags depending on fibre.
  • Use safe moth or pest repellents for protein fibres (wool, silk).
